FARMINGDALE, NY — Elise's Niece's Cafe of Farmingdale is set to host monthly farmers markets starting in May.

The inaugural farmers market is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. May 13 in the courtyard behind 441 Main Street. Each market will ideally feature all of the listed vendors, said Elise's Niece's Cafe Owner, Jenna Napolitano.

"We truly think of our customers as family!" Napolitano told Patch. "We are constantly thinking of new/innovative ways to keep them happy and how to enhance their customer experience with us! In line with this passion is also our passion for supporting other local small businesses! Therefore, we felt the best combination would be to create the 441 Main Street Market, where our customers have everyday wants and needs in one spot. Quality goods from quality businesses!"

Napolitano has been working on the farmers market idea for four months.

"It is safe to say I am very excited! Whenever an idea comes to mind, we put so much thought into it. We make sure it's an idea that will resonate with our customers and community. We make sure it will be executed to our standards. And we make sure that all of the vendors involved are just as passionate about it as we are! Once all of those elements aligned, the rest came easy! We truly feel that this will be a great addition to our community and bring more and more people together!"

The cafe set tentative dates with each vendor through October, and each farmers market's date announcement will come about a month before so customers have time to mark their calendars, said Napolitano.

The Elise's Niece's Cafe social media platforms, website, and email mailing lists are the best way to stay up to date with events.

The cafe's Wet Your Whistle Fridays are slated to begin April 21 and will continue through the summer and fall. Those will consist of live music from different artists every Friday. The music will be 5 to 8 p.m. Back In Time, Cobb's Corner Bar, & Elise's Niece's Cafe will all be open until 8 p.m. as well.

Napolitano founded Elise's Niece's Cafe in June 2020 in memory of her aunt. Napolitano and her Aunt Elise often baked together over the years, whether collaborating on a holiday dessert or sending photos to one another of treats they had crafted.
