Farmingdale Environmental Club Takes Learning Outdoors

Students of Farmingdale High School's Environmental Club celebrate fall by planting and maintaining outdoor gardens

In their continued efforts to give back to the Earth, the Farmingdale High School Environmental Club continued to maintain 12 garden beds in their “outdoor classroom” which is used to take learning about sustainability and natural Earth processes beyond the textbooks and into real life practice.

The garden area was funded, planned and is now maintained by students of the environmental club in order to harvest a large variety of perennial flowers, berries, herbs and vegetables, which are then used by cooking and living environmental classes to utilize and engage students in the results of their fellow peers’ work. Students of the environmental club continue to search for donations in order to expand their garden and continue its cultivation for future students of the Farmingdale High School community.
