Farmingdale Fire Department Carnival Coming To Town: Preview

From food and fun to rides and games, here is what you need to know about the 32nd Annual Columbus Weekend Fair.

FARMINGDALE, NY — The Farmingdale Fire Department's 32nd Annual Columbus Weekend Fair is coming to the village. The event is slated to run Oct. 8 through 11 and will feature something for everyone.

Below are the times and dates the fair is scheduled to run, including events exclusive to each day:

  • Friday, Oct. 8: Carnival hours 5 to 11 p.m. The Fire Department Beer Garden will be open 6 to 11 p.m. with two large-screen TVs for the baseball playoffs and college football games. People can buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win a television. The drawing is slated for 10 p.m. Oct. 10. "The Electric Dudes" are set to play live music in the back of the firehouse from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Farmingdale Fire Department potato soup and hotdogs will be served.
  • Saturday, Oct. 9: Carnival hours noon to 11 p.m. Fire Department Beer Garden open noon to 11 p.m. with two large-screen TVs for the baseball playoffs and college football games. People can buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win a television. The drawing is slated for 10 p.m. Oct. 10. A kids magic show is scheduled for 2 p.m. with "Amazing Ivan," and live music by "Acoustic Overlook" is slated in the back of the firehouse from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Farmingdale Fire Department potato soup and hotdogs will be served.
    • The Street Fair on Main Street is set to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Craft-A-Fair will offer more than 100 vendors and specialty foods. Fairgoers are encouraged to eat lunch and dinner in the village.
  • Sunday, Oct. 10: Carnival hours noon to 11 p.m. Fire Department Beer Garden open noon to 11 p.m. with two large-screen TVs for the baseball playoffs and NFL games. People can buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win a television. The drawing is slated for 10 p.m. A kids magic show is scheduled for 3 p.m. with "Amazing Ivan," and live music by "Superbad" is slated in the back of the firehouse from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Farmingdale Fire Department potato soup and hotdogs will be served.
    • The Street Fair on Main Street is set to run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Craft-A-Fair will offer more than 100 vendors and specialty foods.
    • A parade on Main Street is scheduled for 6 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 11: Carnival hours noon to 6 p.m.

Pay one price bracelets will be sold for $25 — or $30 without a coupon — on Monday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will cost $30 with a coupon, or $35 without. Residents are encouraged to look for coupons in ads or receive them from Farmingdale merchants.

Coupons, good for $5 off a bracelet, can be found at Farmingdale Village Hall, Main Street Pizza, Charlottes Frozen Yogurt, Stuff-a-Bagel Main Street, Moby Drugs, Whiskey Down Diner, Merritt Bakery, Blink Fitness, Goldfish Swim School, with more to come, according to the fair.

Tickets can be purchased for $1.25 each, 20 for $25, 40 for $45. Small kid rides are 3 tickets, and large rides are up to 6 tickets.

Fairgoers will be able to walk down the midway, play games for prizes and eat carnival food.

A soft opening for the carnival was originally planned for Thursday, Oct. 7, but that has been canceled.
