Farmingdale Girl Scout Beautifies Park For Gold Award Project
The park has new hopscotch and four-square courts, new tree plantings and a resurfaced basketball court.

As part of her Gold Award, Girl Scout Ashley Tarricone of Troop 3178 in Farmingdale beautified and improved a neighborhood park, making it a better place for everyone.
Tarricone and her troop were joined by Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Councilman Thomas Hand to unveil the improvements. Tarricone created a beautification plan and raised $800 to assist the town with the costs of the improvements, which included a resurfaced basketball court, a new hopscotch court, a new four-square ball court and new tree plantings.
"These improvements are things that every resident in the area will benefit from, and I commend Ashley for using her Gold Award Project to do something so selfless," Saladino said. "Witnessing firsthand what Ashley was able to accomplish when she put her mind to it is truly inspirational. Congratulations to Ashley for achieving the Gold Award, something only achieved by 5 percent of eligible Girl Scouts!"
