Farmingdale High School Awarded First LI Chapter of Girls Learn International

was recently awarded a chapter of Girls Learn International, an organization that aims to improve the overall lives of young women and girls in developing nations. Farmingdale is the first high school on Long Island to earn a chapter of Girls Learn International. 

In order to bring this organization to Farmingdale, Chapter President Sera Ruzgar (junior) went through several interviews and a rigorous application process in February.

The ultimate goal of the group is to match with a partner school in a developing nation and help aid the female population there.

Ruzgar and her chapter said they are motivated by the belief that when girls are educated, their communities attain greater economic growth and stability.
