Farmingdale High School Student Artists Prepare For College
Students learned what kinds of work they should include in their portfolio and the importance of including a variety of work.

From The Farmingdale School District: The Farmingdale School District recently invited professors from Adelphi University, The Hartford School and Farmingdale College to help Farmingdale High School student artists prepare their college portfolios. This event is part of a Farmingdale School District initiative to guide students in making informed decisions about their futures.
During the visit, students presented college-level pieces they have worked on throughout their high school careers to the professors, who then gave students valuable feedback on their work. Students learned what kinds of work they should include in their portfolio and the importance of including a variety of work.
The professors also spoke to students about the difference between art school and a university or college with an art department. They also discussed the difference between a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, and how to prepare for a career in the visual arts.
