Farmingdale Residents Debate New Apartment Proposal

Residents seem torn over building a 54-unit apartment building. What do you think? Let us know in our poll.

Farmingdale residents seem to be torn over the plan to build more apartments in the village's downtown.

According to Newsday, more than 200 people came to a meeting about the 54-unit apartment building that lasted nearly four hours. Some residents were happy with the plan to add a cultural center to the building, while others felt the design didn't fit in with the character of the village.

The next meeting on the proposal is planned for Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. at Village Hall, as part of the Board of Trustee's annual meeting. But that location may change to a larger venue, Newsday reported.
