Farmingdale School Board Meeting Abruptly Ends Over Masks: Report
School board members walked out of the Wednesday meeting after some parents did not wear a mask, according to the report.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Farmingdale School Board members walked out on a meeting on Wednesday after some parents in the audience did not put on a facemask when asked to, News 12 Long Island reported. Some parents want the school district to allow them to decide whether their children attend school with or without a mask, though New York state has said all students must still wear masks due to the coronavirus.
The Commack School District tried to make facemasks optional for students, but the district was swiftly overruled by Gov. Andrew Cuomo's Office in late May.
Some school districts have written the governor to ask for local control over the mask mandates, News 12 reported.
