Farmingdale School District students at Howitt Middle School recently performed in the capstone concert for the Farmingdale Youth Council’s Summer Music Program. The concert is the culminating event following three weeks of intensive musical instruction designed to help students extend their instrumental skills and stay in practice.
Students have the opportunity to work collaboratively with older and younger peers in a unique, fun musical experience. This year’s Summer Music Program included a concert band, a jazz/pops band, and three different orchestra ensembles.
"Farmingdale Youth Council’s Summer Music Program provides the ideal summer experience for band and orchestra students in the Farmingdale School District,” said Farmingdale School District teacher Erika Felker. “Music is among the best activities one can engage in, especially over the summer, and making music is one of the best ways to spend a few hours on a summer day.”
