Farmingdale School District To Roll Out Bus-Tracking Program

The BusRight program will enhance the safety of students and offer families greater peace of mind, officials said.

FARMINGDALE, NY — The Farmingdale School District will be rolling out a bus-tracking app with a targeted launch date sometime in February.

This app is in partnership with BusRight, a school bus technology company. Parents and guardians of bus riders will have access to the BusRight ParentApp, which provides real-time insight into student transportation. Officials said the goal is to offer families greater peace of mind.

Farmingdale Supervisor of Transportation Marc Medina told Patch they are working to complete the final stages of preparation.

"We selected BusRight for its versatility and superior functionality," he said. "This technology is industry-leading, and we are eager to introduce it to the Farmingdale community."

A letter was sent to parents and guardians, who will be able to create an account and:

For parents and guardians, they will be able to create an account and:

  • View when their child's bus is close to their stop.
  • See live ETAs for bus stops.
  • Switch between morning and afternoon routes.
  • Can view routes for their multiple children in different schools.
  • Receive notifications when the bus begins its route and arrives at their child's stop.

The rollout of the BusRight Parent App will be sometime in February and will be in this order of schools:

1. Saltzman East Memorial Elementary School

2. Northside Elementary School

3. Woodward Parkway Elementary School

4. Albany Avenue Elementary School

5. Weldon E. Howitt Middle School

6. Farmingdale High School

Parents and guardians should ensure they have a valid email address on file in the District's Student Information System.
