Farmingdale Schools Adopt 2018-19 Budget
Residents will have the chance to vote on the spending plan next month.

From Farmingdale School District: The Board of Education of the Farmingdale School District adopted the budget for the 2018-2019 school year during a recent Board of Education meeting. Through diligent planning and a conservative budget approach, the District’s proposed budget is within its tax levy limit of 2.98 percent.
“The secret to the Farmingdale School District’s continued success is maintaining our fiscal stability, and structuring the budget to mitigate against volatility. We are able to work within the constraints of the tax levy cap by adhering to our long-term fiscal plan,” said John Lorentz, Superintendent of Schools of the Farmingdale School District. “Our mission is to provide an outstanding, uninterrupted education for every child in the District, and our prudent and strategic financial planning is a significant part of making that possible.”
The Farmingdale School District’s proposed budget for the 2018-2019 school year reflects the District’s commitment to providing a high-quality education for every child. The proposed 2018-2019 budget maintains and grows the quality of the District’s academic, artistic, athletic and extracurricular programs. As a result of sound financial planning, no program or service reductions are planned for 2018-2019.
“Being able to move forward with our proposed 2018-2019 budget helps ensure the District remains in good financial standing and is able to deliver the kind of outstanding academic, athletic and extracurricular rigor the community demands and expects,” said Farmingdale School District Assistant Superintendent for Business Paul Defendini. “To provide as much transparency in the annual budgeting process as possible, the District works hand-in-hand with the community to foster an open dialogue and exchange information. Residents are encouraged to be involved in the budgeting process so they are fully informed before the May 15 vote.”
The Farmingdale School District is hosting a series of meetings throughout the District to share important information about the budget and answer the community’s questions. More information and a schedule can be found on the District’s website here.
The District reminds residents to vote on the 2018-2019 proposed budget on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Howitt Middle School East gymnasium, from 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
