Farmingdale State College To Close Friday Due To Coronavirus
A member of the campus community tested positive for the new coronavirus, the college's president said.

FARMINGDALE, NY — A member of the Farmingdale State College campus community tested positive for the new coronavirus, John Nader, the school's president, said Thursday. The campus will be closed Friday as a result.
The college was told of the confirmed COVID-19 case by the Suffolk County Department of Health late Thursday, Nader said. Department of Health officials will conduct a review as part of the effort to minimize public health risk. Staff are not expected to report to work Friday unless otherwise instructed, according to Nader. He encouraged residential students to vacate the residence halls through spring break.
"I want to assure you that we have taken steps to prepare for this eventuality and that we will work closely with the DOH to ensure the health and safety of students, faculty and staff," Nader said. "Unless otherwise notified, we expect a return to administrative and office operations on Monday, March 16."
