Farmingdale Students Host Mad About Music Concert

Albany Avenue Elementary School Students Celebrate March is Music Madness Month with Culminating Concert

The Farmingdale School District’s Albany Avenue Elementary School recently celebrated March is Music Madness Month as part of the District’s mission to provide an outstanding musical education and help students develop their creativity. March is Music Madness Month is a unique celebration in the Farmingdale School District, during which students and teachers spend the month of March exploring a musical feast in a tremendously fun and exciting way.

Some of the activities included a community read of "The Energy Bus,” District teachers Catherine McLoughlin and Kevin Schwab creating weekly videos throughout March about car karaoke and getting the right people to ride with you, and student-created, music-themed posters displayed throughout the school. Throughout the month, students were exposed to many different types of music and instruments while educators taught the cultural and historical significance of different types of instruments and music. During the culminating assembly, students and teachers dressed in colorful costumes performed the energetic pieces they prepared in front of the entire student body. The assembly was packed with energy and fun for students and staff, after which students voted on the best performances by musical category and staff grade levels.
