Farmingdale Students Study Tasty Geometry

Woodward Parkway Elementary School Students Discover Planes, Figures and Shapes

Farmingdale School District students at Woodward Parkway Elementary School recently discovered advanced mathematical concepts in a delicious way. Students studied planes, figures and shapes, using pretzel sticks and marshmallows to creates two and three-dimensional structures. During the exercise, students enhanced their understanding of gemotry by measuring angles and vertices, and calculating perimeter, area and volume. Students also experimented with mass to determine which shapes distributed and bore weight the best.

This initiative was one of many of the Farmingdale School District’s innovative educational programs designed to immerse students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics subject in fun, engaging ways.
