Farmingdale Teacher Of The Week: Mrs. Jennifer Monahan
She was named the Farmingdale teacher of the week. Congratulations Mrs. Monahan!
FARMINGDALE, NY — Everybody has a favorite teacher — maybe it's a teacher who went out of their way to make one student's day or a teacher who brightens up a classroom every day.
One teacher who deserves a shout out is Mrs. Jennifer Monahan, a Kindergarten teacher at Woodward Parkway Elementary School. She was nominated as this week's Teacher of the Week by Ken Petersen, whose daughter has her.
"She is phenomenal in so many ways," Petersen said. "When I was younger, I had Mrs. Monahan, and when I saw her presenting at the annual kindergarten roundup for parents with students attending Woodward for the first time, I hoped my daughter would be lucky to get her.

"Well, my family did get lucky, and our daughter was placed with Mrs. Monahan's class. She has helped my daughter advocate for herself and pushed her to levels of understanding, specifically in math, which we didn't think possible at this age. The comfort level that my daughter exhibits in school can definitely be attributed to the classroom Mrs. Monahan creates for the students. I could go on, but she really deserves to be recognized for her truly student-first mentality and teaching practices."
Congratulations to Mrs. Monahan!
