Farmingdale Village to Host Free Genealogy Lecture 2/6/2022

Want to know more about your family tree? Come down to Farmingdale Village Hall on Sunday afternoon, February 6, and learn how to discover your personal family history. Local genealogist, librarian and researcher April Lynne Earle will deliver a free lecture, entitled Genealogy 101, beginning at 2 PM. Ms. Earle is a member of the library faculty at Farmingdale State College and has been researching her personal genealogy for over 30 years. Her passion is helping others discover their family histories and connecting to the past through stories of those who have gone before us.

The lecture will explain how to use popular databases like Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org, and how to explore census records, passenger lists, and other historical documents. Ms. Earle will give tips on organizing research and will dispel common myths. She holds Masters degrees in Library Science and Public History and, in addition to her position at Farmingdale State College, teaches Genealogical Sources & Services at St. John’s University in Queens, NY.
