Farmingdale Voted Best Downtown On LI For 2022; Upcoming Events
It marks the seventh time in eight years that Farmingdale won the best downtown on the island. "We are thrilled, "says Mayor Ralph Ekstrand.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Farmingdale Village was voted best downtown on Long Island in the 2022 Bethpage Best of Long Island Awards. It marks the seventh time in eight years Farmingdale has taken home the award.
"Thanks so much to all that voted, we are thrilled to have won Best Downtown for the 7th time in the past 8 years!!" Mayor Ralph Ekstrand wrote in a news release. "Congratulations to All 2022 Best of Long Island winners!!"
The Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society and the Farmingdale Village Cultural Arts Committee are sponsoring "America’s Eight First Ladies From New York State," a presentation by Elizabeth Kahn Kaplan, at Farmingdale Village Hall at 3 p.m. March 6. The Long Island Pride Parade will be held in downtown Farmingdale on June 12.
"We are thrilled to welcome the Long Island Pride Festival in Farmingdale Village and look forward to a successful event," Ekstrand said.

The eighth annual Farmingdale St. Patrick’s Day Parade is set for 2 p.m. March 13. Paul Defendini, superintendent of the Farmingdale School District, is set to serve as grand marshal.
"Enjoy lunch with family before the parade and stay downtown afterwards for dinner and drinks," Ekstrand said. "Farmingdale Village is a terrific downtown destination; shop and dine local - explore the many shops, merchants, Culinary Quarter Mile restaurants, bars, clubs, breweries, eateries, with some new spots!"

Main Street will be temporarily closed for the parade, which is sponsored by the Farmingdale Business Improvement District.
Youth Open Mic Night at Village Hall is set for 7 p.m. on March 18. Youths 21 and younger may email openmicfarmingdale@gmail.com to sign-up or register that night at 7 p.m.
Additional community events include:
- April 9, 11 a.m. sharp - Easter Egg Hunt / Meet the Easter Bunny - On the Village Green.
- April 22 - Youth Open Mic Night, 7 p.m. at Village Hall.
- May 21 - The Farmingdale School District hosts The Long Island Region of Special Olympics New York Spring Games North at the Farmingdale Athletic Complex, Howitt Middle School. Volunteers are needed.
- May 22 - Ikebana Workshops at Village Hall.
- May 30 - Memorial Day Parade, 10 a.m.
- June 4 - Farmingdale Fire Department Spring Street Fair.
- Sundays, June through November - Farmers Market, by Schneider's Farm, On the Village Green.
The Farmingdale Village Election is slated to be held from noon to 9 p.m. on March 15 at Farmingdale Village Hall, at 361 Main St. Cheryl Parisi and Craig Rosasco are running for village trustee, while Anthony J. Addeo is running for village court justice.
