Farmingdale Woman Wins Award

Humanitarian Woman of Distinction Award given to Lutheran Educator

Ms. Karen Wiking of Farmingdale has been award the Town of Oyster Bay’s prestigious  “Humanitarian Woman of  Distinction Award” The ceremony at town hall was presided over by Supervisor Venditto on Tuesday March 24, 2015.  Ms. Wiking was cited for her work as Director of Christian Education at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Farmingdale, her role as mentor for the children of the parish, leader of its large women’s group and her many humanitarian efforts.  She has arranged scholarships for girls in Africa, supports a shelter for abused women and children on Long Island,  given support to victims of Hurricane Sandy and runs a Christmas program fro children in need.  Her good humor, amazing spirit and unflagging energy make her a role model for the next generation of women.
