GoFundMe Launched For Farmingdale Family After House Fire, Nearly $10K Raised

FARMINGDALE, NY — A GoFundMe has been launched for a Farmingdale family whose home caught fire last week.

On July 20, a family of four was forced from their house after the Point Lookout-Lido Fire Department, which was returning from Fire School in Bethpage, discovered the fire on Merrit Road at 9:29 p.m., the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

Approximately 75 firefighters were on scene and brought the fire under control within 30 minutes, fire marshals said.

So far, the GoFundMe has raised $9.8k towards the Farmingdale family from 108 donors.

The GoFundMe organizer shared on the page that an "electrical fire destroyed the home of the Licata family."

She continued:

"Luckily, they evacuated the house and everyone is safe including Florence, Joe, Isabella, Joseph, and their dog Milo."

The organizer shared that the rapid response and firefighters' bravery helped control the fire. Even so, it's stated that the entirety of the family's bedrooms were destroyed in the fire.

"Our support for the Licata family during this time is only a reflection of their kindness and prevalence in the Farmingdale community and as beloved family and friends," the organizer wrote.
