Gyro And Taco House Opens In Farmingdale
The new eatery is inside a Gulf gas station. A Nassau legislator compared it to southern gas stations having good food options.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Gyro and Taco House has opened in Farmingdale. The new eatery is inside the Gulf gas station at 356 Fulton Street.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday morning.
"Because of the coronavirus, people started ordering mostly from Uber or DoorDash — those kinds of takeouts," Ceyhun Gungor, the owner, told Patch. "So we decided we had the space for that, so we decided we would open a restaurant inside the gas station because we already have gas and the store. Also, we wanted to open a restaurant. We wanted to get into the restaurant business as well. We have space, we have everything."

Gyro and Taco House serves chicken or beef and lamb gyros, tacos, halal food, cheesesteaks, soups, salads, desserts and more.
Gas station food in New York is more limited than many southern states in the country, said Nassau County Legislator Rose Marie Walker. Walker's mother and part of her family are from the south, where she attended school.

"When you go down south, when you stop at a gas station, there's always something good to be able to eat," Walker said. "That is not always the case here. So you are bringing that here, and it kind of reminds me of something special that is very dear to my heart. So this is great. I'm sure you're going to do great. And people, even if they don't need gas, are going to pop in."
Joe Garcia, president of the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce, thanked Gungor for choosing Farmingdale.
"We're excited to try it," he said. "It's a little bit of a different setup here. Congratulations."
