Help the Farmingdale State College Hockey Team Go to Nationals
A fundraising campaign was recently started to raise money for the team to attend the National Championship in Columbus, Ohio next week.

A Long Island resident recently started a fundraising campaign to help the Farmingdale ice hockey team raise money to attend the National Championship in Columbus, Ohio.
According to the GoFundMe page, created by Stephen Montgomery, the team has been nationally recognized at the collegiate level for many years while also winning 3 consecutive conference championships in the past three years, and are currently working on a fourth.
During the 2016-2017 season the team has placed second in the ACHA D3 Atlantic region for the second consecutive year and earned an autobid to the National Championship.

However, recently the college's student government informed the team that their spring budget was cut by 75 percent, which put the team at risk of defaulting and not making it to the national tournament.
"Our team makes many sacrifices and works very hard to achieve the level of success that we've been able to maintain for many years," Montgomery wrote on the page, "Although we have brought national recognition to the school as being one of Long Island's premier college hockey programs, school officals and Student Government have failed to support our team."

The page was created in order to raise money in order to pay for a bus to nationals and hotel stay for the tournament, which begins on March 13.
The goal of the page is raise a total of $15,000. Since the page was created last month, $8,855 has been raised.
"We greatly appreciate any donations that are given to our team to help us achieve our goal of a National Championship," Montgomery wrote.
