ICYMI: Man Arrested For String Of Burglaries In Nassau County

A Farmingdale man was arrested Thursday and charged with a string of burglaries throughout Nassau County, police said.

According to detectives, the Burglary Pattern Team, along with the Fifth Squad and New York State Parole, arrested Ismael Rahman, 37, of North Maple Street in connection with a string of burglaries that occurred across Nassau County in February.

  • On Feb. 19 at 10:26 p.m., he entered Midas Muffler, located at 328 Hempstead Turnpike, West Hempstead, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
  • On Feb. 20 at 5:39 a.m., he entered the American Muffler Shop, located at 655 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
  • On Feb. 23 at 6 p.m., he entered the American Muffler Shop a second time and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
  • On Feb. 24 at 12:01 a.m., he entered Broadway Auto & Towing, located at 421 North Main St., Freeport, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
  • On Feb. 24 at 1:12 a.m., he entered Village Express Deli, located at 198 North Main St., Freeport, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
  • On Feb. 24 at 7:45 a.m., he entered a Stratford Road, West Hempstead home and attempted to take property before he was confronted by a homeowner. He fled on foot with no proceeds. No injuries were reported.
  • On Feb. 24 at 6:10 p.m. he entered Triple A1 Transmissions, located at 66 Hempstead Turnpike, West Hempstead, and attempted to steal property. No proceeds were taken.
  • On Feb. 24 at 7:25 p.m. he entered R an M Service Station, located at 260 Hempstead Turnpike, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

After an extensive investigation, Rahman was located on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Nassau University Medical Center where he was placed under arrest without incident.

Rahman is charged with second-degree burglary and seven counts of third-degree burglary. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
