ICYMI: Nassau Woman Charged With Leaving Scene of Accident After Hitting 14-Year-Old Pedestrian: Police

BETHPAGE, NY - A Bethpage woman was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident after hitting a 14-year-old pedestrian in Bethpage on Saturday night, according to Nassau Police.

At about 9:40 p.m., Kaitlinn Vanalst, 23, was driving a 2008 black Mitsubishi northbound on Hicksville Road when she struck the teenage girl, who was crossing west to east at Gloria Road, police said.

Vanalst fled the scene and drove to her home, police said. The teen, who police did not identify, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

An investigation led detectives to Vanalst's home and officers discovered that she had a suspended license, police said.

She is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury and second degree aggravated unlicensed operation, police said.

She was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday.
