LIFWC PRESIDENT’S COUNCIL & AUTUMN FESTIVAL
On Friday, October 21, the Long Island Federation of Women’s Clubs, Inc. (LIFWC) held their annual Fall President’s Council. President, Fran Rotondo, welcomed over 20 women’s clubs from Long Island and Queens, including the Women’s Club of Farmingdale (WCF). Founded in 1895 on Long Island, the LIFWC promotes the best interest of humanity through mutual helpfulness.
First Vice-President, Fran Bassett, put together a very interesting and informative agenda, including a program of insight and empowerment by speaker Glenn Poveromo who spoke on “Positive Thinking: The Key to Living Your Best Life Possible.” Mr. Poveromo listed three tools for our mental toolbox: Perception, Self-Talk and Visualization.

Club presidents received applications for LIFWC awards and scholarships, as well as information on “How to Write a Resolution.” President Fran Rotondo reminded everyone that the second “Founder’s Celebration” will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017, at Woodlands where clubs will share the history of the founders of their clubs. This event is especially appropriate since March is Women’s Month and these founders were extraordinary leaders who had the vision to inspire so many meaningful changes in their communities, not the least of which is the creation of local libraries.

The following month, on November 10, 2016, the LIFWC held their Annual Autumn Festival and Fundraiser at the Milleridge Inn Cottage. Joanne Conti, 2nd Vice President, and her committee, organized a very successful day which included over a dozen vendors. Guests had the opportunity to browse through tables of beautiful scarves, purses, children’s games, jewelry, soaps, and many other handmade items. LIFWC President, Frances Rotondo, welcomed and thanked everyone for their support. As always, monies raised will be used to fund scholarship awards to high school seniors.
