Fabulous Flutes!

The silvery sounds of Long Island flutists will be on full display at the Long Island Flute Club’s Fall Ensemble concert on October 25, 2015. The concert will feature the LIFC’s Professional Flute Choir. This 17 piece ensemble, conducted by Deborah Schild, features all members of the flute family from the tiny piccolo to the large contra bass flute.

The program will feature a wide variety of music from many places for all to enjoy. The concert will begin with selections played by the LIFC’s Student Honors Choir, followed by the LIFC’s Professional Flute Choir. Julius Fucik’s famous circus march, the Florentiner March will get the program off to a rousing start. Catherine McMichael’s Suite de Montague will take you on a scenic trip to the Colorado Mountains with its western melodies. La Danse de la Nuit is guaranteed to get your toes tapping. The South African song Siyahamba conveys a message of peace and understanding. After a piece entitled The Fun of Flying the Long Island Flute Club will transport you out of this world with selections from Gustav Holst’s The Planets. The afternoon will conclude with both flute choirs performing Let There Be Peace On Earth.
