Man Arrested In Connection With Speed Racing: Suffolk Police

The man is accused of speed racing in September and was arrested, police say.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A Huntington Station man accused of speed racing in Farmingdale in September was arrested on Thursday, Suffolk police said.

Edwin Villalta, 19, who was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang, was racing against a white BMW at dangerous speeds on Allen Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Sept. 25, police said. Pedestrians had lined the street to watch, police said.

Villalta was arrested in Huntington Station and charged with illegal speed contest and reckless driving, police said.

Officers are asking anyone with information on who was driving the BMW to call the First Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8126 or anonymously Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
