Man Who Fled Fatal Pedestrian Crash On LI Arrested: SCPD
The man was walking on the sidewalk when a vehicle veered off the road and fatally hit him, police say.
FARMINGDALE, NY — A North Amityville man who fatally struck a pedestrian with his car and kept driving on Tuesday in Farmingdale was arrested, Suffolk police said.
Hector Rodriguez, 44, of Mastic, was walking southbound on the northbound sidewalk of State Route 110, just south of Route 109, when a 2017 Toyota Tacoma traveling northbound veered off the road and struck him around 3:15 p.m., police said.
Hugo Cuadra, 22, was driving the Tacoma and kept heading northbound after hitting Rodriguez, police said.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip.
Cuadra was arrested at his home in North Amityville at 3:50 p.m., police said. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
