Marc Bynum's The Pie Hole Celebrates Grand Opening In Farmingdale
"It feels good to be back," Bynum said. Bynum is a three-time "Chopped" champion who currently makes specialty pizzas.

FARMINGDALE, NY — The Pie Hole, a pizzeria owned by celebrity chef Marc Bynum, celebrated its grand opening in Farmingdale on Wednesday.
The eatery, at 850b Main Street, blends food with music and opened last fall. It marked Bynum's return to the brick-and-mortar food business after a stint cooking out of the Hush Truck, which he now uses for catering.
"It feels good to be back," Bynum told Patch. "The grand opening was great. We didn't do one at Hush, so it was good to do one at The Pie Hole. Hopefully we'll be here a little bit longer."

Bynum, a three-time "Chopped" champion, owned Hush Bistro in Farmingdale before relocating to Huntington for a larger store. He helped open MB Ramen, also in Huntington, but he left his two restaurants in 2018 to work full-time at Fatwood Southern Kitchen in Bay Shore.
Bynum then took a three-year hiatus from the restaurant scene where he was doing consulting work. A chef at heart, Bynum realized he wanted to return to food. He opened The Hush Ramen Truck in January 2022 and then opened The Pie Hole earlier in October.

Joe Garcia, president of the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce, told Bynum that Farmingdale is happy to have him back.
"It's sort of like the phoenix," Garcia told Bynum after he cut the ribbon. "It's your rebirth, opening the pizza place back where it all started for you. Welcome, we're excited, and we look forward to seeing you around."
Business, Bynum said, has been great so far. He expects that to increase with the spring weather blowing away the cold winter air.
"We've worked out the kinks, we've worked out the menu," he said. "I'm looking forward to a nice, busy summer season."
The Pie Hole serves up specialty pizza named for musical artists, including The Anthony Hamilton, a pie topped with braised short ribs, collard greens, cornbread, and short rib jus; the Lil Tunechi/Lil Wayne, pizza topped with homemade crumbled meatballs, lemon ricotta, broccoli rabe pesto; the Carribbean Queen/a.k.a. Billy Ocean, which combines jerk chicken, grilled pineapple, plantains, and hibiscus BBQ sauce, and more.
The Pie Hole menu is rounded out by appetizers ("The Intro"), pasta, dessert ("The Encore") and buckets of fried chicken or ribs.
