Memorial Day Events Information At Long Island National Cemetery
The Flags In ceremony will be held on May 25, and a Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on May 26.
FARMINGDALE, NY--The Long Island National Cemetery will be holding Memorial Day events on back-to-back days during Memorial Day Weekend.
The "Flags In" placement for veteran headstones will be held on Saturday, May 25 starting at 6 a.m. If you wish to participate, all flags are placed one foot and center from the headstone in an upright style. The flags will remain until the following Saturday morning. Community service opportunities are available to local schools' students, girl and boy scout troops, churches and other organizations for the flag placement ceremony.
On Sunday, May 26, there will be the Memorial Day Ceremony starting at 1:30 p.m. in the Memorial Garden. The annual event is sponsored by the Long Island National Cemetery in association with Long Island National Cemetery Memorial Organization.
