Memorial Day Parade, Farmers Markets, Fair, More: Farmingdale Events
The Farmingdale Street Fair, Art in the Park, and a flower workshop are among the other events coming to the village.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Farmingdale has several events coming up spring through fall, including the Memorial Day Parade, Street Fair and Medieval Day, Art in the Park, farmers markets, and more.
What: Youth Open Mic Night
When: 7 p.m. Friday, May 19
Where: Village Hall

What: Football Mums Workshop
When: 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20
Where: Farmingdale Village Hall, at 361 Main Street
More: The Long Island Chrysanthemum Society is hosting a beginner workshop on growing football mums, the Queen of Fall Flowers. The workshop is open to all Long Islanders that want to learn the art of growing giant mums and is free to attend. Attendees will receive a free starter plant, a container with soil, along with step-by-step instructions. Farmingdale is home to some of the champion growers of mums on Long Island. Professor Paul Fogelberg, who is retired from SUNY Farmingdale, was the recipient of a national level award for his chrysanthemum bonsai at the 54th Annual Long Island Chrysanthemum Show. Long time Farmingdale resident, John E. Capobianco, has received multiple national level awards at local and national shows. What: "How Well Do You Know Farmingdale?"
When: 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21
Where: Farmingdale Public Library
More: Join the Farmingdale Bethpage Historical Society, as Natalie Korsavidis, a librarian from the Farmingdale Public Library who focuses on local history, will present a program "How well do you know Farmingdale?" at the library. All are welcome, free to attend.

What: Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
When: 10 a.m. Monday, May 29 (Rain or shine)
Route: Kicks off at Northside School and proceeds down Main Street, ending at Village Hall.
More: Join the community to remember, honor and salute our heroes, those who made the ultimate sacrifice serving our nation. The parade will be followed by a ceremony on the Village Green with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 516, VFW Auxiliary Post 516, American Legion, troops, and groups at 361 Main Street.
Note: Street closures will occur for the parade.

What: Medieval History Day
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 3 (Rain date: June 10)
Where: Village Green, at 361 Main Street.
More: The Canton of Lions End, in the Crown Province of Østgarðr, will wear medieval clothing of different centuries and perform demonstrations and display their skills. Artisans of all sorts will display their work and give children and their parents hands-on time to explore their crafts.
What: Farmers Markets by Schneider's Farm
When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays from June 4 through Nov. 19
Where: Village Green, at 361 Main Street
More: Shop the fresh selection of produce, vegetables and other items. Stroll Main Street and shop and dine downtown throughout Farmingdale Village, supporting local merchants.
What: 12th Annual Farmingdale Art In The Park Show and Sale
When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17
