New Details Emerge After Kids Stuck For Hours On Ride At Adventureland On LI: Police

No injuries were reported, police say.

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY — Details have emerged after 16 people, including 15 kids and one adult, were stuck on the Wave Twister ride at Adventureland in East Farmingdale Friday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, First Precinct officers responded to a 911 caller who reported people were stuck on the ride at the park, located at 2245 Broadhollow Road at 7:25 p.m.

Suffolk County emergency services unit officers and multiple fire departments safely removed the people from the ride, police said.

There are no reported injuries at this time, police said.

There was a 5-year-old aboard the with their 40-year-old parent; the rest of the kids were 8 to 12 years old, police said.

The last person was rescued at 10:39 p.m., three hours after the ride stopped working.

Adventureland released a statement on social media Saturday: "For more than 60 years, Adventureland has enjoyed a proud record of safety and guest satisfaction. We understand the concern of the riders and their families who were involved yesterday, and we will be working with our ride consultants to fully assess what happened. Until further review, that ride will not be in service. We appreciate the dedication of the many first responder departments who skillfully assisted in getting our guests off the ride."
