Person Killed After Being Hit By Car: Nassau Police

The person was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital after suffering trauma injuries, police said.

BETHPAGE, NY — A person was hit by a car and killed while walking in Bethpage Tuesday night, Nassau police said.

They were walking westbound on Maple Avenue at the intersection of Stewart Avenue at 9:50 p.m. and were hit by a 2016 Honda CRV that was driving northbound on Stewart Avenue, police said.

The person suffered multiple trauma injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where a staff physician pronounced them dead, police said.

A brake and safety inspection was conducted, and the vehicle was then released to the operator, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
