Police: Man Overdoses at Police Station After Stealing Taxi in Farmingdale
The suspect faces several drug and weapon charges after the Wednesday incident.

A Baldwin man, who faces several drug and weapon charges after stealing a taxi in Farmingdale, is in the hospital after he overdosed on drugs at the Second Precinct on Wednesday night, police said.
Authorities responded to a report of a stolen 2004 Ford taxi from Sunset Taxi, located at 180 Atlantic Ave., at 10:59 p.m.
The stolen vehicle was found parked on Stewart Avenue, near Hempstead Turnpike, in Bethpage a short time later. The suspect, later identified as Christopher Chiaro, 31, attempted to run away once officers approached the vehicle, police said. Chiaro was arrested after officers chased him on foot.

Authorities recovered a black bag from the taxi that contained:
- A 9 mm handgun
- Ammo
- Two high capacity magazines
- 203 Oxycodone pills
- 10 Clonazepam
- 2 Suboxone
Chiaro was taken to the Second Precinct to be processed where he then suffered from an opiate overdose, police said. Officers administered NARCAN to Chiaro and then transported him to a local hospital to be treated.

Chiaro is being charged with fourth degree grand larceny, second degree assault, two counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of third degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of unlawful possession of certain ammo feeding device, second degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property.
He will be arraigned once it is medically practical.
