Farmingdale State College: Reports of Armed Man Found to Be Guy With Toy Lightsaber
Everyone on campus was urged to remain in a safe place while police assessed the situation Wednesday morning.

A call to police reporting a man in a parking lot handling a weapon caused an unnecessary scare at Farmingdale State College Wednesday morning since the weapon turned out to be a toy lightsaber, authorities say.
The call came in for a man assembling a rifle in a school parking lot around 9:40 a.m. and school officials then urged everyone on campus to remain in a safe place while police assessed the situation.
Police came to the conclusion the man who supposedly had a weapon just had a lightsaber in his car and posed no threat to anyone around him.
