UPDATED: Customers Help Foil Farmingdale Bank Robbery, Police Say

The robbery occurred Monday morning, police said.

UPDATED at 3:45 p.m.:

FARMINGDALE, NY- Two patrons inside a Farmingdale bank were able to stop a robber from fleeing the scene before authorities arrived Monday morning, police said.

According to authorities, a man entered TD Bank, located at 90 Broadhollow Road, approached a teller, leaned over the counter and stole money from the drawer at 9:40 a.m.

The man attempted to flee the bank but was thwarted by two citizens who held him in the ATM vestibule until officers arrived, police said.

Jesse Josefsberg, 34, of Locust Valley, was arrested and charged with third degree robbery.

He will be held overnight at the First Precinct and will be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Islip.
