Services For Farmingdale Educators Killed In Bus Crash: Info
People can pay their respects to Gina Pellettiere and Beatrice "Bea" Ferrari.
FARMINGDALE, NY — Wake and funeral services were announced for Gina Pellettiere and Beatrice "Bea" Ferrari, the two Farmingdale School District educators killed in Thursday's bus crash in Orange County, New York.
Pellettiere, 43, Massapequa, was the single mother of a 2-year-old son. Pellettiere was the band director at Farmingdale High School. Ferrari, 77, of Farmingdale, was a retired teacher who went to band camp as a chaperone.
The high school marching band was traveling to Greeley, Pennsylvania, when its bus overturned on Interstate 84 in Orange County just after 1:10 p.m. Thursday, state officials said.

Five students were critically injured but are all "expected to recover," Farmingdale Superintendent Paul Defendini wrote in a letter to the community.
"I know that many of you are still struggling to unpack what you are feeling," Defendini said. "Our team here at Farmingdale is also struggling with the events of the last two days. There are no words to express the sorrow we are all feeling."

Farmingdale Village is waiving all parking fees until Thursday out of "deep respect due to the profound loss" of the two teachers, the village announced. Village flags will also be flown at half-staff until sunset of the final day of interment.
