Sharon Wheater in the Fantasy Spotlight

Sharon Wheater and her fantasy series are in the spotlight. The Art of Magic, Realm of the Castles -- book one of the series debuted in November of last year.  Ms. Wheater will release book two, The Art of Magic Realm of the Northern Castle later, this month.

Hi Sharon.  Welcome into the spotlight.  Please give us a brief synopsis of your series. Have you ever wished for death? I have. I was just 10 years old when I was taken from my home and locked away with other children, never to see the light of day again. None of us knew why we had been taken, but we were tortured, abused and now I have been rescued, I want to stop it happening again. My journey starts when I am taken back to Amethyst Castle in Garnatia, I realize everything I ever knew was a web of lies and I had to find out the truth, but nothing was as it seemed. Have you ever wished for death....not anymore.

Where did you get the inspiration? I love fantasy. I am ex-military and love stories that involve a battle.  The story was just something I thought up. Some of the inspiration came from a song called Somewhere by Within Temptation.  I can give thanks to them - LOL.  I have a vivid imagination and can ad lib a story straight off the top of my head.

How long did it take to write? Two weeks to write.  The edits and elaboration took over a year.

What else are you working on? I am ghostwriting a story named Catch Me If You Con, which is a true story about a friend.  The manuscript is a bizarre and heart-tugging story about marrying a con man.  I am also beginning the third book of my current series, The Art of Magic The Dragons Tear Stone.  I have The Appleton Chronicles in the making.  This story follows a set of show jumpers. It is along the line of a comedy and drama.  The story I am looking forward to, is a non-fiction crime novel about the psychology of a serial killer called To Kill or Not to Kill.  Finally, later this year I plan to publish a thriller/action novel that will blow minds – LOL.

Who reads the drafts of your novels? My partner, Mark Jones reads drafts of my manuscripts.  He is a sweetie; the poor guy is left watching movies whilst smoke is billowing out of my fingers from writing all the time. A friend of mine, Ollie Becket, also reads it for me.  My mother isn’t a big reader; however, she couldn’t put down Realm of the Castle -- not because I am her daughter.
