Warbirds To Practice Over Farmingdale Ahead Of Jones Beach Air Show
Long Islanders can watch historic military aircraft take flight from Republic Airport before the FourLeaf Air Show begins.
FARMINGDALE, NY — Long Islanders will have a chance to catch a preview of this year's FourLeaf Air Show before the warbirds take flight and formation at Jones Beach.
The American Airpower Museum's "Legends of Airpower Warbirds" will conduct practice flybys over Farmingdale on July 3 and July 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as crews prepare for the FourLeaf Air Show, which is celebrating America's 250th anniversary.
Visitors to the museum at Republic Airport will be able to watch several of the historic military aircraft take flight, including a Douglas C-47B Skytrain, North American P-51D Mustang, Curtiss P-40M Warhawk "Flying Tiger," Grumman TBM-3E Avenger torpedo bomber, North American AT-6D Texans, and the museum's red WACO biplane.

The FourLeaf Air Show officially begins with a fireworks display at Jones Beach on July 4 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Air show performances are scheduled for July 5 and July 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
During the air show weekend, museum visitors can watch the warbirds depart from Hangar 3 at Republic Airport in Farmingdale before flying to Jones Beach and return following their performances.

The museum said attendees may also be able to watch the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds take off and land at Republic Airport throughout the weekend.
In addition to the flight demonstrations, the museum will host several attractions during "Warbird Week." Texan and WACO flight experiences will be available July 1 through July 3, while flights aboard the museum's C-47 Skytrain will be offered on July 3.
A traveling "Top Gun Maverick F/A-18 Experience" exhibit will also be set up at the museum from July 3 through July 5, allowing visitors to sit inside a full-size Navy F/A-18 cockpit replica.
The American Airpower Museum, located at Hangar 3 at 1230 New Highway in Farmingdale, will be open July 1 through July 6. Admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, veterans, law enforcement officers, and firefighters, and $12 for children.
