In addition to the high school awards, the club’s philanthropic budget approved donations to local and national charities and community improvement projects. This year, a special donation of $125 was made to “The Café” at St. Thomas Church, through its Director, Janice Anderson. “The Café” is open the last Saturday of every month all year round for the homeless, special needs individuals and those in need. Volunteers come on Friday to help set up the tables and start preparing the food. They begin cooking on Saturday morning. It is always a hot meal which includes salad, bread, and dessert. Gently used clothing is made available to anyone who needs it.
