THE WOMEN’S CLUB OF FARMINGDALE AT WORK
On Saturday, December 3, Women’s Club of Farmingdale (WCF) President, Tina Diamond, and NYS International Chair & WCF member, Dolores Cianciabella, visited their local Adopt-A-Battalion center. Adopt-a-Battalion is a volunteer organization that boxes & ships donated items to active servicemen & women. A check from The Women's Club of Farmingdale was donated to help offset shipping costs. More than 1700 packages were boxed and prepared for shipping to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. The Women’s Club of Farmingdale also sent along holiday cards signed by members thanking service men and women for their sacrifices.

A new project introduced by Women’s Club of Farmingdale (WCF) President Tina Diamond happened on Saturday, December 3, as part of the GFWC Public Issues Community Service Programs which encourage members to team up with other community organizations to promote civic responsibility in supporting veterans. WCF President Tina Diamond, WCF Craft Chair, Dru Brem, Dolores Cianciabella, Maria Ortolani and two “prospective” members, Kathy Firetog and Judy Jaffee were on hand to sew “Made with Love” labels to 120 lap blankets. The labels were provided by an all-volunteer, non-profit organization called “General Needs” founded by its president, Lonnie Sherman. They provide basic needs like clothing, toiletries and bedding to homeless veterans on Long Island, The lap blankets will be distributed at the Northport, Long Island, VA Center.
