• Blaze Breaks Out At Home On Fire Island's Ocean Beach; Marine Officers Douse Flames: Police (patch.com) — Fire Island residents saw a quick emergency response Friday when a shed fire on Bay Walk in Ocean Beach began spreading toward a nearby home. Ocean Beach police, Suffolk County marine units, and aviation officers worked together using pumps, hoses, and aerial spotting to contain the blaze. Several officers were treated for smoke inhalation, no civilians were hurt, and detectives currently believe the cause is non-criminal.
