Suffolk To Spray Ground For Mosquitoes In Davis Park Community On Fire Island

All streets and boardwalks in the community will be sprayed on the ground with the ultra-low-volume aerosol pesticide, Anvil, officials say.

FIRE ISLAND, NY — The Suffolk County Department of Public Works plans to treat sections of Davis Park on Fire Island on Thursday, as part of its ongoing annual efforts to control adult mosquitoes, officials said.

All streets and boardwalks in the community will be sprayed on the ground with the ultra-low-volume aerosol pesticide, Anvil, or sumithrin from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

The news comes a day after officials announced that the first person to contract West Nile Virus in Suffolk County resides in Brookhaven Town.
