102-Year-Old Man Hospitalized By Nassau House Fire
The blaze completely engulfed the man's home, but firefighters were able to get him to safety.
Police and firefighters rescued an elderly Valley Stream man from a house fire Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, a call came in around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday for a fire in a house on Fir Street.
The Valley Stream Fire Department was dispatched to the scene, and found the home fully engulfed in flames. It took the Valley Stream, Lynbrook, Woodmere and Elmont fire departments to put out the fire. There were at least 60 firefighters on the scene.

A 102-year-old man escaped from the blaze, but suffered from smoke inhalation. The Woodmere Fire Department took him by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
The Nassau County Fire Marshall and the Nassau County Police Arson Bomb Squad are still investigating the cause of the fire.
