19-Year-Old Faces Weapons Charges After Thwarted Mall Theft: Police
The man was found in possession of a firearm after being arrested, police say.
VALLEY STREAM, NY. — A 19-year-old man is facing weapon charges Tuesday after he tried to take property from the Green Acres Mall Macy’s while carrying a gun, police said.
Nassau County police said Queens resident Malik Thorpe was arrested Tuesday after police responded to the mall for a larceny in progress. Upon further investigation, police said, Thorpe was found to have the gun on him.
Thorpe now faces one-second degree count of criminal possession of a weapon, a third-degree count of the same charge, one additional count of criminal possession of a firearm and two counts of petit larceny, police said. His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday, police said.
