Officer Hurt As 5 Men Steal From Pair Of Nassau Target Stores: Police

An officer was hurt when one of the men resisted arrest on Tuesday night in Valley Stream, police said.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — Five men were arrested after stealing from a Target store on West Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream.

When police arrived, just before 11 p.m. on Tuesday, three of the men were still at the store, and were placed in custody, authorities said.

One of the three men, though, became violent and combative as he resisted arrest. An officer sustained injuries, and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

The other two men fled on foot, but were located a short time later and placed under arrest, police said.

An investigation revealed that the same five men were also responsible for larceny at the Target store on Corporate Drive in Westbury, police said.

They were using 2023 Jeep and a 2024 Acura, both of which were reported stolen, authorities said.

Michael Turner, 32; Shukur Turner, 27; Ty Quan Spann, 28; Mario Mervilus, 26; and Kendell Poole, 25, all from Brooklyn, are charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle. Poole is also charged with second-degree assault.

They were expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
