6 Adults, 2 Children Displaced By East Rockaway House Fire, Fire Marshal Says

The fire marshal's office says the blaze drew the response of about 75 firefighters.

EAST ROCKAWAY, NY. — Six adults and two children were displaced in a Monday night house fire in East Rockaway, the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said.

The fire marshal said the alarm was raised at the two-story home on Ryder Place at 6:02 p.m. Monday, with the East Rockaway Fire Department responding and receiving assistance from Lakeview, Lynbrook, Oceanside, Rockville Centre and Valley Stream departments. In total, the fire marshal’s office said 75 firefighters were on the scene of the blaze, which was under control within half an hour.

The fire marshal’s office reported no injuries but said that the adults and children were displaced. The Village of East Rockaway building inspector was assessing the building Monday night while the fire marshal and NCPD arson bomb squad were investigating the cause of the fire, officials said.
