Lawrence UPK and kindergarten students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational visit from Emmy Award-winning meteorologist Samantha “Sam” Augeri, who brought weather science to life through engaging, hands-on experiments and interactive demonstrations.
During the presentation, students learned about different types of weather, explored how meteorologists predict storms, and even had the opportunity to step into the role of a weathercaster themselves. Through fun and memorable activities, students gained a deeper understanding of Earth science while experiencing the excitement of scientific discovery firsthand.
Sam Augeri, a Long Island native with nearly 20 years of television experience as a meteorologist, is currently pursuing her master’s degree to become an Earth Science teacher. She created “Sam’s Weather School” to inspire students to develop a love for science and weather through interactive learning experiences.
Each lesson is designed to align with age-appropriate curriculum standards while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific exploration. The visit provided students with an unforgettable opportunity to learn from a professional meteorologist while discovering how science can be both educational and exciting.
