HEWLETT, NY — A Hempstead teenager is facing possession charges Wednesday after a gun was found in his car during a traffic stop, police said.
Nassau County police said 19-year-old Jair Perry was arrested Tuesday after a traffic stop just after 8 p.m. According to police, Perry was stopped while driving a 2011 Infiniti sedan on Peninsula Boulevard near Franklin Avenue in Hewlett. An investigation of the Infiniti revealed a loaded firearm in the car, police said.
After the discovery of the gun, Perry was arrested and is now facing charges of criminal possession of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and traffic violations, police said. Perry is due in court Wednesday, police said.
