Valley Stream Man Arrested After Spraying Chemicals At Neighbors’ July 4 BBQ: PD

A barbecue in celebration of July 4 took a turn for the worse Friday night, when a neighbor doused it in chemical spray, police say.

VALLEY STREAM, NY — A Valley Stream man is facing an assault charge this week after he sprayed chemicals at his neighbors’ home while the neighbors were having a fourth of July barbecue Friday night, police said.

Nassau County police said 46-year-old Valley Stream resident Nicholas Stolz sprayed the chemical substance at his neighbors’ home Friday night, with police being called at 8:14 p.m. Friday to settle what was described as a “neighbor dispute.”

Police did not say what the dispute was over, nor did they say how many people were affected by the chemical spray. According to police, the people at whom the chemicals were sprayed were taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment, and are in stable condition.

Stolz was arrested Friday night, and is charged with seven counts of third-degree assault and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said. Court documents show Stolz has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
