Bags Believed To Be Heroin, Crack Recovered From Vehicle: Police

Two people were arrested on Tuesday afternoon after being pulled over, police say.

ELMONT, NY — Two people were arrested in Elmont on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers pulled over a 2001 Black Nissan Altima on Hempstead Turnpike, and their investigation led to recovering several clear plastic bags, believed to be of crack cocaine and heroin, police said.

Casey Daus, 23, of Massapequa Park, was arrested, according to detectives.

George Williams, 43, of Freeport, initially ran away from officers and refused to respond to verbal commands. He was chased and arrested after a foot pursuit, detectives said.

One officer's right hand was injured in the melee and was treated at an area hospital.

Williams faces several charges, including second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was previously arrested on April 14 on fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and released without bail.

Daus was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. She has two open Nassau County warrants dating back to last year.

Williams and Daus were due for arraignment on Tuesday.
